In attendance were Bob Maver, Rachel Maver, Ray Glinka, Steve Pettyjohn, Katie Yeager, Terri Speck, Amy Kubacki, Andrew Mangels, Joe Hudak, Lisa Hebert, Jeff Appel, Joe Kraft, Kevin Krantz, Wayne Nieman, Justin Hein, Jim Strunk, Patty Zinn, Tim Smith, Tianyi Krupka.
The meeting was called to order by President Andrew Mangels. The invocation, pledge of allegiance, and four-way test were recited.
Jim Strunk was unable to prepare and deliver the treasurer's report, so the meeting was not a formal board meeting.
Club news:
- Over 90 Westlake Community Center’s celebration is scheduled for May 21st. A sign-up list will be created for the event.
- Following the board meeting, we will present a check to the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center to sponsor one of their pollinator beds. All are invited to attend the check presentation and tour.
- It was suggested that the club order a large check for presentation purposes. Lisa will look into that.
- April has five Wednesdays and, therefore, will be a diaper-dropped month. Please bring your diapers to the library or let us know if you prefer to provide funds. Jeff Appel has committed to taking the diapers down to Providence House on the day.
- We will be doing the basket program for the Interact Club during the district conference at the end of the month. There will be a basket-filling event at the library on April 23rd at 6:00 PM. Lisa and Amy are organizing the materials for the basket filming project. A sign-up list will be on the Club Runner website.
- We received a thank-you note from a student involved in RYLA.
- Our exchange student, Tubtim, will be leaving to go home on July 7th. She would like to attend the RYLA conference this year since she will be here for it and not at home for the one she would normally attend. We approved the $600.00 fee for her to attend But agreed we would not take a slot away from another local student.
- The bowling extravaganza at the Elks Lodge has been scheduled for April 15th, which is also the Thai New Year. Andrew has secured the bowling alley, and a sign-up sheet is available on Club Runner. The Art Fest meeting will take place before our Wednesday meeting on the first Wednesday of every month.
- Lisa mentioned an event at Lake View Cemetery for placing flags on veterans graves. She will send out an e-mail for the event.
- There is a top golf event on May 22nd. If anyone is interested, see Andrew.
- The scholarship program for high school students at Westlake and Bay Village is underway. Joe Kraft, Jim Strunk, and Amy Kubacki are working through the many applications we are receiving.
- Although Herb was not on the call, we did mention that he just had his 97th birthday. He is doing well after his recent illness. Rachel is staying in touch so we can keep updated on how he is doing.
