The Rotary Club of Westlake-Bay Village held its weekly Wednesday meeting on December 11, 2024. The meeting was a hybrid with 16
participants meeting via Zoom and in person. President Andrew Mangels called the meeting to order at 7:32 a.m. beginning with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rotary Four-Way Test.

Andrew welcomed everyone and introduced our speaker, Josh Nugent.
Club news:
- Next week’s meeting will be our monthly Board meeting. We will review and hopefully adopt the new Bylaws. Thanks to Rachel Maver
and her firm for all the work they performed pro bono for our club. - As Christmas and New Year’s both fall on a Wednesday, next week’s meeting will be the last meeting of the year. We will meet again on January 8th.
- Jim Smilie, Tubtim’s first host father, is recovering nicely from his recent stroke. He has been cleared to drive, and there appears to be no long-term damage to his brain.
- The Art Festival committee will meet on January 8th at the library. \
- The wrapping party for our adopt-a-family was held Monday evening. Andrew thanked everyone who participated and reported a good time was had by all.
- Jeff will send out a sign-up sheet for the Epiphany Project. Dates are 12-26 & 27 to load the boxes, 1-3 to deliver the boxes, and 1-6 for the party to distribute the boxes. Sign up if you are available to help.
Our speaker today was Josh Nugent, a certified coach and facilitator from Braintrust Coaching. Josh gave a very interesting talk on becoming a successful leader. The first step to becoming a successful leader is effective communication, and effective communication is based on trust. He also discussed shared values.
