The Rotary Club of Westlake-Bay Village held its weekly Wednesday meeting on May 7, 2025. The meeting was a hybrid with 22 participants meeting via zoom and in person. President Andrew Mangels called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m., began with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rotary Four-Way Test.

Andrew welcomed everyone and introduced our guests, Eric Jolly, Tubtim, and our speaker, Hon. William F. B. Vodrey.

The first order of business was to ask Eric Jolly, Assistant District Governor, to induct our two newest members, Debra Dorow and Tianyi Krupka. We are excited to have them as members and look forward to great things.

Club news:

Amy and Wayne discussed a project in conjunction with St. John Westshore. They are putting in a community garden and are seeking our help as potential partners using Rotary grant money. There are also service project opportunities for  pring and fall clean-ups.

The Art Festival committee is still seeking sponsors. So far we have $12,500 committed and 55 artists signed up.

We will once again be helping out at the over 90 celebration at the Community Center in Westlake. The event will be held May 21 st at 9:30. See Rachel Maver for volunteer opportunities.

If you still need to do your Youth Protection training, please complete as soon as possible. Contact Terri if you need the link to the training.

Our speaker today was the Honorable William F. B. Vodrey, who gave a very interesting presentation on the Cuyahoga County Justice System. Judges are elected to 6-year terms and hear several different types of cases. Judge Vodrey showed us a video and answered several questions.

We did not have time for our happy thoughts and the meeting adjourned at 8:30.
