The Rotary Club of Westlake-Bay Village held its weekly Wednesday meeting on July 9, 2025. The meeting was a hybrid with 20 participants meeting via zoom and in person. President Amy Kubacki called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m., began with a prayer and meditation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rotary Four-Way Test.
Amy welcomed everyone, and introduced our guests, Molly, Colleen, and Brian Moore, and our speaker, Joe Scarpitti.
Amy began the meeting by presenting a check to our Westlake scholarship winner, Molly Moore, and her parents, Colleen and Brian.
Molly will be attending Ohio University this fall and plans to study finances.
Andrew then presented a number of Paul Harris awards to several members. Those honored this year were Steve Pettyjohn, Katie Yeager,
Rachel Maver, Jeff Appel, Scott Goggin, Lisa Hebert, Tim Opsitnick, Jim Strunk, Joe Kraft, and Terri Speck who is now a major donor.
Club News:
- If you still need to do your Youth Protection training, please complete as soon as possible. Contact Terri if you need the link to the training. Jim has volunteered to be the Youth Protection officer effective July 1 st .
- Rotary will celebrate End Polio Now at the Guardians game on August 15 th . Tickets are available.
- Providence House is hosting a Stuff the Truck event on July 18 th . Rather than providing diapers for our 5 th Wednesday, we ask that you bring them prior to the 18 th so we can participate in their event. They are in particular need of size 4-6 diapers. Anyone wishing to participate will leave the library at 6:00 am.
- The Art Fest is in need of volunteers. Jeff will have sign-up sheets at the meeting, or you can sign up on the Google sign up.
- Joe Kraft is heading up a walk team for Walk to End Alzheimer's, October 4 th at LCCC. Please plan on joining to walk and/or making a
donation to the team. There will also be Alzheimer's night at the Crushers stadium on July 25 th . - Terri announced that Tubtim arrived home safely the evening of July 8 th .
Our speaker today was Joe Scarpitti, Sr. VP of the capital group. Joe gave a very interesting and uplifting talk on the state of the market. We are very fortunate to have Joe come and speak to us each year.
We had time for our happy thoughts and the meeting adjourned at 8:33.
