The Rotary Club of Westlake-Bay Village held its weekly meeting on September 17, 2025, this was a board meeting with no guest speaker in attendance. The meeting was a hybrid with 13 participants meeting via Zoom and in person. President Amy Kubacki
called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m., began with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rotary Four Way Test. Amy then shared a meditation and welcomed everyone.

Committee Reports:

  1. Finance- Joe Kraft. Commented on the strength of our portfolio and that we are in good financial shape thanks to the uptick of the market.
  2. Donations- Kevin Krantz. No updates
  3. Speakers- Justin Hein. Confirmed we have speakers through November. Open dates Dec. 3 and 10 th . Justin will reach out to a few potential speakers and Joe Hudak also mentioned he has a few to offer and will coordinate with Justin.
  4. Social- Rachel Maver. Working on location for Holiday party, preferably in Westlake or Bay Village. Over 10 have signed up for the Food Bank project on 10/24 and folks can meet at the library at 8:30 and carpool or the calendar listing for this project has detailed
    directions to the Food Bank.
  5. Membership- We had a good discussion and Amy stressed that we need to get a chair in place ASAP and begin outreach to potential new members. We heard from Bob Oborn that membership is one of his priorities during his DG year and money, in grant form, is available for membership activities. Bob Maver has offered to serve as co-chair of the committee with Andrew.

CLUB NEWS:

  1. Andrew discussed a District (with a small “d”) project to raise funds to buy a truck for a project sponsored by Omni Missions in Africa. The truck, purchased several years ago, via support from Rotary is no longer working and this puts the project in a very difficult
situation. Cost is roughly $70k and donations from the cluster clubs (and perhaps from others in the 6630 District) would range from $5000 to $500. Rocky River Lakewood being one club that has already committed $5k. Andrew is projecting $1300 from each
club in our cluster; however, he knows some may come in lower. Andrew will collect additional info and develop a timeline for this project and present it at an upcoming meeting.
  2. Katie gave an update on the golf outing. We need 72 golfers for a shot gun start. We are less than ½ way to that #. Need to get more golfers over the next two weeks! Sponsors are going well and the system for invoicing is running smoothly. Need volunteers in
addition to golfers. Andrew will introduce Marie Marrali to Katie and hopefully she can help. Additionally, Steve P and Andrew have offered to work the registration table. Need raffle items—Katie will put these together. Idea was suggested to have each Rotary
member contribute a bottle of wine or alcohol for the raffle baskets. CLE Browns will donate an item as well.
  3. Rose Sale: Please get your order into Pat ASAP. He sent out an email with orders from last year. Let Pat know if you have any questions.
  4. Friends of the Library will be holding their annual book sale October 15 th - 19 th . They are looking for volunteers to help. You can promote Rotary as a volunteer by wearing your swag! To volunteer please call: 440-250-5562 or visit the website: westlakelibrary.org/Friends.
  5. Agreed to participate in the Adopt-a-family initiative, working with the Community Services Center. Andrew will coordinate with Mary at the Center. She will provide our club with families and specific requests, sizes, etc. We can sign up on CR once all has been confirmed. Turnaround time is tight, and we discussed using the Dec. 10 th meeting to wrap and deliver the gifts to the Center as this is the last day to drop-off gifts.

We had time for happy thoughts and the meeting adjourned at 8:24.
