The Westlake Bay Village Rotary Club held its weekly Wednesday meeting on December 4, 2024. The meeting was a hybrid, with 17 participants meeting via Zoom and in person. Bob Maver called the meeting to order at 7:32 a.m. and began with a prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rotary Four-Way Test.

Bob welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced our guests, Tubtim and her new host mother, Tina Ingraham. Tina is also a Rotarian from the Cleveland Club. He also welcomed our presenters, Ann, Linda, and Sarah.

Club news:
  • Please remember Jim Smilie and the Smilie family in your prayers. Jim suffered a stroke the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The Smilie’s were Tubtim’s first host family, and we pray for a quick and complete recovery.
  • There will be no Art Festival committee meeting next week.
  • We are sponsoring the Big Brother/Big Sister wrapping party, which will take place on Saturday, December 7, at 11 a.m. at the Big Holiday Breakfast at Cross Country Mortgage.
  • Our adopt-a-family wrapping party will be Monday, December 9th at 6:30 in the library.
  • Jeff will send out a sign-up sheet for the Epiphany Project. Dates are 12-26, 27, and January 6th.

Our speakers today were from the Cleveland Threshold Choir. We were treated to a demonstration of their services as they performed several songs for those in attendance. Cleveland Threshold Choir is a dedicated group of women who have been called to use their vocal gifts to bring musical solace, comfort, and compassion to hospice patients. They have a beautiful repertoire of a cappella music that inspires peacefulness and is ecumenical in nature. They have also learned a number of songs in a variety of religious and cultural traditions to cater to individual preferences. They work with local hospices and healthcare organizations to bring peace and comfort to their clients. They are also available to sing at the bedside in homes and care facilities. Any woman who can carry a tune is welcome to join them on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Jennings Center for Older Adults in Garfield Heights, Ohio. To learn more about their organization, visit their website at WWW.thresholdchoir.org/cleveland

We had time for our happy thoughts, and the meeting adjourned at 8:28.
